The first public performance series by Buktapaktop was in februari 2013, now 8 years ago – so, in light of this fact and that we still can’t do much by the way of public presentations, we decided to do an in-house project with some documentary elements to at least keep the ball rolling… (individually, the members have not been sitting still, but as a group we have been somewhat ‘on hold’… waiting)

C’est une enquête approfondie qui maintenant qui se profile, afin de déterminer la juste responsabilité de chacun dans ce triple odieux crime contre l’ordre, l’utilité et le bon goût.

So we took apart the already semi-disappeard ‘cadavre’ before it became too smelly – with the relaxation of Covid-restrictions in sight, and the travel-season just around the corner, it was decided not to drag it all out too long (we had been dragging since february already…) and make room for fresh meat as it were – something to get our teeth into, to chew on, to gnaw at…

Obviously there was too much to discuss as to really make an intensive work-sesion of it – the chairs that were to be refurbished were put aside or sat on, while on the other hand there were still some creative interventions- Lise read/sang her libretto on the window panes, with the company singing refrain every now anfd again, while Guy kept the beat with a bucket or such – then there was the groupshot-photo, which was only partial in the end, and Jérôme unfurld his secret ’empaktées’ revealing to everyone’s surprise the tools they had been looking for all these weeks… Laetitia’s stones were put back in their basket, the genie was not forged back into the bottle of spirits, the poem read only once or twice with only an inkling of the degradation envisaged: the sinking feeling of a poéte maudit during a bout of serious drinking – speaking of which: could not find a bottle of Absinth in time, so we settled for one of ‘Pineau de Charantes’ for that sunny southern feeling, and some Dutch beers (Grolsch, Amstel, Jérôme was just back from walking the Erasmus bridge in Rotterdam) and local brew of course, while Nadine threw down the profiteroles on the ground as a challenge to the bourgeois intent of it all…(even so they were gobbled up by the prols) LL rescued her knotted stick and conversed at length about Ethiopia and all in all it was a pleasant rounding up & off of a strange project that no-one had foreseen a year ago…

now for a fresh start… considerations gearing up for september…

La Camadrie served as a switch point for the next contribution, session, whatever one might call it… here a short report:

Quelque cheveux se sont détachés naturellement et son tombés par terre, mêl”s à la peinture,

L’artiste anonyme et absente avait continué le peinture rituelle de gesso sur le toile avec portrait ajouté en cookie et menthe… Il avait apurement utilisé le même pinceau que était objet de curiosité d’autrefois, en supposant que c’était oublié par Alexander De Quaste, mais cette fois je ne peux pas être sure si c’est le même… Les pierres de Titania Altezze était sorti et mise sur de bouteilles, ou mieux dit flacons trop petits dans le paysage de Deuxelles, seul les pierres qui était avec dans le voyage au pays bavarois… Les autres reste dans leur Tupperware dans le magasin, pas touché….

As of next week we have decided in camadrie-conclave to do a sort of internal residence, one after the other, creating a three-dimensional cadavre exquis in the space of Buktapaktop… anything goes, we have no idea how it is going to turn out…

two rules – participants can’t (re) move elements added by the previous (unless agreed upon) and has to stick to his/her alotted time slot.. (one week – possible leeway) – given we are 9 that makes otto e mezzo already (given duo’s) and or invitees…

A way to utilize the space in these lockdown times and do something together separately, at our pace and could result in an interesting presentation (follow on project page ‘Cadavre21’)

Vanaf volgende week hebben wij besloten (tijdens de laatste camadrie-sessie) om een soort interne residentie te doen waarbij de leden een na de andere aan een ruimtelijk Cadavre exquis werken – alles is mogelijk, behalve het verwijderen van stukken door een voorganger geplaatst (of na afspraak) en mits inhouden van verdeelde tijdstip (per 1 of twee)

Gezien wij met 9 zijn kunnen wij al ‘otto é mezzo’ weken voort… mogelijk zullen er nog andere deelnemers zijn…

Op deze wijze kunnen wij toch gebruik maken van de ruimtes zonder de covid regels te overtreden, om samen iets apart te doen en mits documentatie en mogelijk eind-presentatie toch ook iets voor ons publiek…
